Painshill Park near Cobham in Surrey is a very romantic setting for weddings, with its lush gardens, avenues of trees, lakes and follies. It is a painter's dream location and therefore ideal for photographers and film makers alike. It was to this setting that Gerry Lewis Productions were invited to film the wedding of Bee and Lorenzo.
Bee's family originates from Sri Lanka and the ceremony was of course a Hindu one. Although Lorenzo is Italian, he and his family seemed to fully embrace the Hindu marriage tradition with all its colour, sounds and exotic aromas of incense and burning sandal wood. The fusion of these two rich cultures made for a very different and visually exciting wedding to film.
We work well with photographers generally, but it was a real pleasure to work closely with John Flowerdew's photographic team. Couples benefit in the end from this professional harmony and certainly makes it a pleasure for all involved. Rob went with John's team to capture couple shots in the grounds of Painshill. They were driven by golf buggies and taken around the lake, over the new bridge, and up to the folly on the hill. Although a wash-out was forecast on the day, the weather held out, allowing lots of outdoor filming, including impromptu guest messages on the terrace. Messages were given in several languages, reflecting the eclectic guest list.
The food was predominantly Indian cuisine and of a very high quality and beautifully presented. Bee and Lorenzo later took to the dance floor and treated guests to a bit of a floor show, with Lorenzo adding a touch of Latin pizazz.
